sorry about the dent

So I am sitting in Biochemistry and my mind is wandering.  I started to laugh to myself because of something from my childhood I remembered.  Me and my friend Chirs decided it would be awesome to write a note on a piece of paper that sad “Sorry about the dent.” Then we put it on the neighbor with the new red truck across the street.

We set up post upstairs in his parents bedroom and waited for the neighbors to come home…. HAHAHAHA.  It was A mazing!  They walked around the truck crouched over looking intently at every inch of the body.  HAHAHA.....and now I want to do it again.  I’m sure Preston and his friend will be just as awesome as me and my friend Chris.

This is one I found online that was a bit more extreme, but funny nonetheless.

wellllll

preston is like wolverine...his claws seem to grow instantaneously, like something you see on...well, x-men.

i was getting the house packed up for the big move and preston was like "dad if you dont take a picture of me im goina freak out like logan does." and i was like "who's logan dude?"  preston has been giving me the silent treatment ever since...

well i now remember that logan is wolverine. (and that new wolverine movie was pretty decent i thought. im not too critical of movies unless they really suck. but this one, as i said, was decent.)  i dont see how preston knew that but i will do as he required, post his pictures of some of his best moments... i am not my own man anymore...

Eating.

Sleeping.
Learning from dad. (this is my addition and preston doesn't know about it. he told me multiple times to not post it because it makes him look a lot smaller than me.)

change in title

i realized that we needed to change the name of our blog... at least for now.  this will assist people in remembering that preston is here and he is here to stay.

my goodness i didn't know we had such an entourage of followers.  some avid followers, and some occasional.  we need to hear from you folks that meander in and out of our cyber-lives, thus giving us more reason in life...or just motivation to post up the latest and greatest from the kansas home-front.

the latest and greatest is that the Doctorate program is 100% legit. we are only in the second week, so i don't have much to report but that it feels good to be learning again after the 2 1/2 week break i had there.  because of brody's mom we took a "starting the doctorate" picture!  :)  and if you are thinking "what in the world!? matt doesn't know how to hold a baby!"  well, you sir, or ma'am are wrong.  preston loves to get a little stretch of his neck when he can.
for some of you that dont know brody, he is a stunningly handsome single utah transplant lookin for the right lady out here in kansas while doin up the DC program with me.  he runs half marathons (or will soon), and this white boy has got mad hops.  check out how high he can jump...
reagan is so good with preston, even when he's up every hour of the night just to play.  lately he has decided it is fun to barf. not only that but to put a huge smile on his face as the chunks of curdled milk rest on his lips and chin.  i will spare the curdled milk, but here is his cute lil smile.
weather is getting nicer here and that means tis time to run without my shirt and be a blinding white body to reflect as much sun light as possible...and, this just in. i am going to run the KC half-marathon.  yes.  not as great as a full, but who does full marathons these days anyway?  jess motivated me to do this, and im hoping to have her out here to join me.  with all of this i have recruited 2 other females, and ... drum roll....................... 4 other dudes!  yes, real men run half marathons.  it is going to be an amazing race.  its not till october 17th or so, which means we have time to train. maybe next year we will do the full marathon!  anybody want to join?

talking about joining.  i have multiple throngs i have created.  one being the marathon. the other being the MAC users.  i have converted 3 of you out there to make a your one big leap for your own good...hehe. i warned you ;)  the other throng i would like to create is the following of So You Think You Can Dance, aka SYTYCD for short. will you join the throng?

the baton has been passed...

The Mother's have left us. Grammy Kandi was here for the first week we were home, and then as she was flying back to Boise she made a stop in Denver, told Gramma Ogle a bunch of secrets and sent her on her way out to Kansas. Gramma Ogle left the baton in our hands - which was expected, being as this kid really is ours; he's not for rent from the hospital.

I loved having the Big Mama's here - changin diapers, makin meals, doin laundry  like it was nobodys business but their own. Those weren't placed in any specific order...cuz they did them all at the same time.   I unno?  I just take one thing at a time...

It's warming up around here, and humidity is settlin in as well. Preston has been out on a few occasions to speak with the squirrels...mmmDahhhh Squeek squeeker squeek squeeken... (Preston practices his squeeking while he sleeps - he's pro.) Anyway, on one of the outings we took a family picture.  Preston was wide awake too!

Despite what you think, Preston isn't as cute as he looks in these pictures....He's cuter.

He's cuter in real life...kinda like...like when you are alive and standing next to him, or even sitting by him in real live status, you will know.

Grammy Kandi got Preston a nice pair of sweat pants.  He was so excited to try them on.  Grammy Kandi tried to explain to him that the 3m meant that he had to wait till he was 3 months old to wear the pants.  He insisted, and seemed to have lost his arms in the process...Shoulda listened to Grammy Kandi.

Gramma Ogle loved the idea of a nice bath for Preston and made him warm up to the idea as well.  Pun.  He's a kicker, and a flailer.  This made for an interesting bath, but Gramma Ogle rewarded him with his favorite thing...A blow dryer to volumize his hair. He likes volume.

shy of a week...

Preston got this lil outfit from Granny Foote... it's for newborns and he is just about grown out of it.  for all of you who noticed, he had a ridiculously huge cone head when he was born.  it has gone down A LOT so he is even more stunningly handsome.

well, reagan being the amazing fighter she is was in labor for just about 36 hours.  4 of those hours were devoted to pushing.  yes, 4 hours.  for all of you who know a smidge about the pushing part of labor, its not easy in the least bit.  to be honest, my biceps were sore from helping reagan sit up a bit during the process.  dont laugh.  it was hard!  i can only imagine what she was, or still is feeling.  well, turns out this child was big and reaga is just so tiny.  so break it down ... big child + cute petite mommy = hard labor and c-section.  indeed we had to do an emergency c-section.  im glad we did because i now have both of them here with me:)

Preston is now 6 days old and loves hangin out with dad, mom and grammi at 4am. i think this child was sent from japan cuz his clocks all backwards...

Reagan and Kandi took off for a little mommy-daughter date. i had Preston all to myself. when i should have been studying for my cell bio test i chose to take pictures and play around with him a lil bit.  i LOVE this picture.  i took it cuz his feet are so precious and i love the look of having him just passed out in the background.

Add Videoour friends are due soon... actually more like 60 days or so!  i wont say that their boy will be overdue, but he will be.  sorry hanna.  cody, this will give you anxiety....it did to me.

shy of a full week and i love being a dad. nothing to be scared of... to be honest, people always say that they want to be financially secure before having a family.  i think thats not necessary as long as you have direction. i have direction; and i think you know you're ready for a baby when you are willing to have entirely sleepless nights and continue on the next day like nothing happened.

love it!

the way i am

i like to wake up to the smell of crackling bacon, sue me!

you know, i realized something about myself this past week.  its kind of significant. i think that it has been brought on by my fast paced morning routine.  ill get to what im really blogging about after i tell you of one struggles ive had.  i wake up at 6:30. well, in the past i would wake up at 6:30.  I would hurry and get ready so i could make my journey to school and learn all about how thrilling organic chemistry is...BOO.  i found that i would get there FAR too early...i mean so early that i was the first one in there.  why did it take me 4 months to realize this pattern? i think it had to do with it being early and me being half out of it most the time.

i decided to wake up later, hurry my routine and get to school with 30 seconds to spare. well the first day i tried it and found out that the later you arrive to school, the further out you have to park!  so tack on 3 minutes of walkin time and you have me being 2 1/2 minutes late.  youre thinkin "oh wow thats nothin, i get to chuch 10 minutes late and im feelin good!"  well thats a lot of time in organic chemistry.... which makes me think that i want to ask a rhetorical question.  In the days of your schooling, were you late to class much? if not, are you late to church?  if yes, do you continue that today with your church attendance? if youre a smart alek and chose to answer in your head with a comment like "what can i say to throw off what hes trying to get across? .... OH!   meeh! i never went to class! how bout that!?" well, you my friend need a friend.  um.... where was i?  oh. so needless to say, i had to tweak the timing a bit.  I tweaked the timing.  Turns out leaving a bit earlier means traffic is worse.  come on! 2 minutes earlier and traffic is that much worse? so the next day i leave even earlier; traffic was good, parking was good; 5 minutes to spare.  fine. i was ok with 5 minutes. the next day i didnt go to school cuz of my previous accomplishment.

i told you all of this just so i could set in your mind the timing
that i have set out for each day, and thus leads me to what i realized about myself.  i eat like a chipmunk.
if youve lived with me, or even if you havent, you know that i HATE eating noises. bad things go through my head when people dont have mouth manners. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thinking about it enrages me so ill stop. i am proud to say that i havent chipmunked anything since ... this morning.
